Black Mold Remediation in DFW & North Texas
"Black mold" gets searched more than any other mold term, and for good reason -- North Texas humidity swings, slab foundations, and HVAC condensation give it plenty of chances to take hold. Warrior Restoration LLC contains it, removes it under HEPA-filtered air, and fixes the moisture source feeding it so it does not just come back next season -- IICRC AMRT certified, $2 million insured, one crew from source to last wipe-down.
The Part Most Companies Won't Tell You
"Black Mold" Is a Marketing Term. Moisture Is the Problem.
Search "black mold" and you will find a lot of fear and not much substance. Here is the straight version: Stachybotrys chartarum, the mold species most people mean when they say "black mold," is one of dozens of species that can grow indoors, and color alone does not tell you how serious a job is. What matters is how much material is affected and whether the moisture behind it is still active.
We do not lead with fear. Any mold growth means there is a moisture problem worth taking seriously -- that is the framing we work from, not a scare headline. A small, contained patch on a hard surface is a different job than growth spreading through drywall after weeks of an undetected leak, and our crew sizes up every job on that basis, not on which species is on the wall.
Why It Shows Up Here
Why Black Mold Is So Common in North Texas Homes
Mold does not need much -- a material to feed on and moisture to feed it. North Texas supplies both more often than most regions:
Humidity Swings
A wet spring followed by a punishing summer means indoor moisture levels swing hard all year, and materials that stay damp between swings are exactly what mold needs.
Slab-on-Grade Foundations
Most DFW homes sit on a concrete slab with no crawlspace to vent moisture. Ground moisture and plumbing leaks under the slab have nowhere to go but up into flooring and framing.
HVAC Condensation
Systems sized to fight Texas heat run long, hard cycles that generate real condensation. A clogged drain line or an undersized return can turn a closet or attic into a steady moisture source year-round.
Post-Storm Water Intrusion
North Texas storm season brings roof leaks and flooding that do not always get fully dried out. Mold can take hold within about 72 hours of standing moisture behind drywall or under flooring.
How We Work
How Black Mold Remediation Works
Our IICRC AMRT-certified crew runs the same disciplined sequence whether the growth is black, green, or anything else -- containment before disturbance, moisture repair before we call it done.
Seal the Work Area
Poly barriers and zipper doors go up before anything is touched, and negative-air machines keep spores contained to the work area instead of migrating through the house.
HEPA Removal in Full PPE
A crew in respirators and full PPE removes affected drywall, insulation, or flooring under HEPA-filtered air, then bags and disposes of it to remediation standards.
Antimicrobial Treatment
Remaining surfaces get HEPA-vacuumed and treated with EPA-registered antimicrobial to address growth too small to see with the naked eye.
Dry & Repair the Source
Industrial air movers and dehumidifiers dry the structure while we correct the leak, condensation, or slab moisture that fed the growth in the first place.
Texas Mold Rules, Plain English
Why We Don't Test Our Own Work
Texas separates mold assessment from mold remediation on purpose. For larger jobs, an independent, licensed assessor inspects the property, writes the remediation protocol, and later performs the clearance testing that confirms the work is done. Warrior Restoration is not that assessor -- we do not hold a TDLR mold assessor license, and we never offer mold inspection or mold testing as one of our services.
That separation is not a limitation, it is the point: the company that removes the mold should not be the same one grading its own cleanup. When your job calls for a licensed assessment, we work alongside that independent assessor rather than around them.
For a small, contained area -- under 25 contiguous square feet -- Texas rules do not require that licensed assessment process at all, so homeowners can bring a remediation crew in directly. Either way, our lane stays the same: containment, removal, cleaning, drying, and fixing the moisture source.

The 72-Hour Chapter
Black Mold Is What Happens After Water Damage Goes Unaddressed
Most black mold calls we get in DFW trace back to a water event that did not get dried fast enough or dried completely -- a slow roof leak after a North Texas storm, a burst pipe behind a wall, condensation pooling around an HVAC line, a bathroom that never fully dried after a flood. The response window on the front end matters as much as the remediation on the back end.
That is also why one crew handling both jobs matters. If you are dealing with an active leak or flooding right now, our water damage restoration team responds within 1 hour to extract water and start structural drying before mold has a chance to establish. Full mold remediation details, including what a job typically involves and what it costs, are covered on our mold remediation hub.
